David Morris, who has been with the department for 30 years, posted the comment on Facebook in response to a reference to police officers. The comment read: "That's why I don't care when one of them (officers) goes down."

Morris' comment was directly about the shooting death of a man who testified during the Amber Guyger trial. Guyger is a former Dallas police officer who was recently sentenced to 10 years in prison.

A spokesman with Pittsburgh Public Safety told WPXI that the matter has been "referred to human resources" and Morris "has been placed on leave pending the review."

Morris is currently on paid suspension during the investigation.

Morris' attorney, Milton Raiford, told WPXI his client is regretful.

"I've known David for over 40 years, and I know he regrets these comments, and he apologizes for them," Raiford told the television station.
