It’s officially the holidays and although we may not see much snow and ice here in Central Florida, you can experience a true winter wonderland during ICE! At the Gaylord Palms. I donned my parka and stepped into this chilly attraction on this edition of Central Florida’s Hidden Gems.
Throughout the year, the Gaylord Palms Resort is known as a top hotel and convention center by both tourists and locals alike. For 2 months out of the year, the resort really gets into the holiday spirit with twinkling Christmas lights, stage shows, and fun surprises. This time of year is known as Christmas at the Gaylord Palms, and its pinnacle event is ICE!
While ICE! kicked off in late November, the actual ice sculptures involved in the attraction began taking shape in October. 40 artisans from Harbin, China spent 40 days hand carving the 2 million pounds of ice on display at the Gaylord Palms. This year’s theme is a Charlie Brown Christmas, and each of the displays feature the entire Peanuts gang in classic scenes we all know and love. The attention to detail in each piece is so astonishing, you’ll be asking yourself multiple times whether the ice is real (It is!).
This year's Christmas at Gaylord Palms features several new holiday events such as Mrs. Claus' Holiday Traditions show, Santa's Snow Throw where you can throw real snowballs, Breakfast with Charlie Brown and Friends, and an all-new Cirque Dreams Unwrapped.
There are also returning favorites with a new twist. The Elf on the Shelf® Scavenger Hunt has all new prizes, you can decorate your own gingerbread house, get an ICE! Parka at the Build-A-Bear Workshop, have a cosmic ride as you rush down the Alpine Rush slides, and take a picture with Santa himself.
Christmas at the Gaylord Palms is happening from now through January 1st. Click here for more details.
