This year is set to be one of the biggest years for openings at the Central Florida theme parks, and while we've got a full list of attractions, lands, restaurants, and shows opening this year on icFlorida.com here are a few of Shelley Caran's top picks for 2017.

The event of the year will be the opening of the long-awaited Pandora: The World of Avatar at Disney's Animal Kingdom. The land is the biggest expansion in park history, and in addition to an amazingly detailed setting guests will enjoy 2 new attractions Avatar Flight of Passage that will take you above and the Na’vi River Journey which will take you through the jungles and rainforests of Pandora. There will also be themed restaurants and shopping when the area opens this summer.

Opening this Summer, Volcano Bay will be Universal's first water park. It will be filled with dozens of innovative slides and experiences that will utilize a new TapuTapu wearable technology. Included in admission, the Tapu Tapu devices are designed to allow guests to wait in virtual lines and tap to play experiences throughout the park.

SeaWorld Orlando will debut the first VR roller coaster experience later this year! Riders on the iconic Kraken coaster will wear new technology that will take them on a journey alongside deep sea creatures and maybe even face-to-face with the legendary Kraken.

Shelley's last pick is the LEGOLAND Beach Retreat. Opening on April 7th this hotel will bring a new resort style to the expanding park. Guests will stay across the street at bungalows themed to popular minifigures and surrounded by outdoor activities for the entire family.
