Star Wars Celebration brings thousands of fans to Orlando

ORLANDO, Fla. - It's the franchise that has spanned 40 years and it's being celebrated right here in Orlando.

That's right, the Star Wars Celebration is bringing fans from all over the world to the Orange County Convention Center for a weekend full of costumes, exhibits, screenings, celebrity guests, and other fun surprises.

The event kicked off Thursday with a star-studded opening ceremony as Actor Warwick Davis moderated a sprawling look-back at the four decade legacy. Lucasfilm chief Kathleen Kennedy, Mark Hamill, Billy Dee Williams, Anthony Daniels, Peter Mayhew and Hayden Christensen all made appearances.

Harrison Ford also made a surprise appearance and garnered the most enthusiastic response from the thousands of fans in the convention center.

The opening ceremony ended with a heartfelt tribute to the late Carrie Fisher, well known for playing Princess Leia in the films.

 

On Friday morning, attendees at the Star Wars Celebration were treated to a sneak peek at the newest Star Wars Film, 'The Last Jedi.'

Actors Mark Hamil, Daisy Ridley, and John Boyega introduced the new trailer for the film slated to premiere on December 15th.
