LAKE BUENA VISTA, Fla. - The newest restaurant concept from award-winning Orlando chefs James and Julie Petrakis is now open. The husband-wife team, also owners of The Ravenous Pig and Swine & Sons in Winter Park and Cask & Larder at Orlando International Airport, are opening this newest concept with James Petrakis’ brother Brian.
The Polite Pig will place an emphasis on modern barbeque prepared in an open kitchen along with southern sides such as tomato and watermelon salad, mac and cheese, and smoked corn with lime butter. For all the sauce fans out there, the restaurant will have a bar with seven different barbeque sauces to fancy anyone’s taste buds, from Layla’s Sweet to Fresno Hot Sauce. Also included on the menu is a wide selection of craft beers and cocktails and a bourbon bar with more than 50 selections.
In an interview with the Disney Parks Blog, the owners say that while the Polite Pig is similar to their previous restaurants’ approach of using quality and seasonal ingredients, much of the offerings will be exclusive the new Disney Springs outpost. Like the Southern Pig Sandwich with pulled pork off the smoker, apple slaw, mustard sauce and Duke’s mayo; peel-and-eat shrimp with bourbon-cocktail sauce, and crispy Brussels sprouts with whiskey caramel.
Five house cocktails will also be featured on tap, including some longtime favorites from The Ravenous Pig, such as the Gin and Tonic and Old-Fashioned.
The Polite Pig is located right near the escalators of the Lime Parking Garage at Disney Springs. Click here for the full menu.
