Holiday shopping 2017: All the last-minute shipping deadlines

You’ve got the gifts, the wrapping paper and a partridge in a pear tree. All you need now is to know when is the latest possible time you can ship your presents so as not to be late for Christmas.

It’s not that you want to intentionally ship at the last minute, but it’s just good to know in case you need the extra time. So, we’ve compiled a list for you so that you can concentrate on getting those last-minute deals that money expert Clark Howard always tells us about.

Last-minute holiday shipping deadlines

Like in years past, scores of stores are participating in Free Shipping Day —Friday, December 15, 2017 — when they will ship packages at no charge with the promise that they will arrive at their destinations before Christmas.

If you can’t make that date, here are some last-minute holiday shipping deadlines to be aware of, courtesy of Dealhack.com:

  • December 18 – Standard Shipping
  • December 22 – Expedited Shipping
  • December 23 – Fastest Shipping

  • December 22 – 3-Day shipping
  • December 23 – 2-Day Shipping

Target

  • December 17 – Standard Shipping
  • December 22 – Premium Shipping
  • December 23 – Express Shipping

Best Buy

  • December 22 – Expedited Shipping
  • December 23 – Express Shipping
  • December 24 – Store Pickup
  • December 25 – E-Gift Cards purchased at bestbuy.com

Toys “R” Us

  • December 19 (3 p.m. ET) – Standard Shipping
  • December 22 (3 p.m. ET) – Expedited Shipping

Kohl’s says these date is the only one it will guarantee this year.

U.S. Postal Service

  • December 14 – Retail Ground Service
  • December 19 – First-Class Mail Service
  • December 20 – Priority Mail Service
  • December 22 – Priority Mail Express

FedEx

  • December 11 – FedEx SmartPost shipments
  • December 15 – FedEx Ground shipments (unavailable for delivery on Dec. 23)
  • December 18 – FedEx Home Delivery shipments (available to deliver on Dec. 23 at no additional charge)
  • December 19 — FedEx Express Saver shipments
  • December 20 — FedEx 2-Day and 2-Day a.m. shipments (you may ship 2Day shipments on Dec. 21 for delivery on Saturday, Dec. 23 if Saturday delivery is selected.)
  • December 21 — FedEx Standard Overnight, Priority Overnight, First Overnight shipments
  • December 25 — All FedEx SameDay shipments
  • Next Day Air shipments. (delivery on Dec 23). These packages must be processed and labeled for Saturday Delivery. Saturday Delivery is not available to all ZIP codes.
  • December 24 & 25 – No pickup or delivery service

United Parcel Service (UPS)
